LIFE GOES ON!

Been a crazy month of shit (as with most months), but especially this month! With all this crazy shit going on in our personal lives, plus a buncha friends losing loved ones it's sometimes hard to always stay positive. Luckily Creep Street remains fearless! We must keep it moving right?! The only thing certain in life is death & taxes after all!



On a brighter note, finally got that roll of film developed. Shooting film is so rad. Not rad in that hipster let me just walk around Brooklyn with my Yashica sense, but rad just because it's so...honest. Pictures the way they were meant to be, and with so much fluff these days, it's one of the few nice surprises to wait for once you drop your film off. You only have one shot, make it worth while. Which is funny for a place that never experiences East coast winters. Damn pansies. Next stop is Boston this Friday to see some more homies gettin' murried! Terry Richardson's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, titled TERRYWOOD, presents over 30 of his latest photographs. Inspired by the multiple facets of Hollywood life, TERRYWOOD unveils a series of images of the famous locale, as seen through Richardson's eyes. Terryworld meets Hollywood, as the local characters, familiar landscapes, and architectural details, now verge on having a new identity. Through a medium not typically understood as effective in translating an artist's personality, Richardson manages to make his hand evident within his photographs. His identity is unmistakably present here, as if he created the very objects and scenes his camera captures. An artist often attributed with changing the field of photography, Richardson also defies the ideological limitations of the practice, while redefining an epitome. TERRYWOOD takes all that Hollywood represents - the celebrity, broken dreams, kitsch, and sorted history - but, just as with all of Richardson's well-known work, he re-contextualizes familiar imagery, re-identifying it with characteristics reflective of his own persona, imparting them with a different narrative.

OHWOW is pleased to announce Daniel Arsham's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, titled the fall, the ball, and the wall, on view January 20 through February 16, 2012. From two-dimensional work to sculpture, installation, public art, and performance, this New York-based artist produces occasions to (re)consider architecture, the natural world, and the manner in which they interact. the fall, the ball, and the wall, Arsham's first solo show with OHWOW, illustrates the artist's continued interest in manipulating architecture and in challenging expectations of accepted realities.

Daniel Arsham (b.1980, Cleveland, OH) graduated from Cooper Union, and received the Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003. Arsham's work has shown at institutions, such as PS1, New York, NY; The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, FL; The Athens Biennial, Athens, Greece; The New Museum, New York, NY; and Carré d Art de Nímes, France, among many others. A monograph of Arsham's work was published by the French Centre National des Arts Plastiques.
