Meet Purple, the latest addition to the dark, club-oriented experimentalists that make up the LA-based production collective Wedidit. The unknown London-based producer’s secretiveness is mirrored in his debut single, “The Club”, a track that aims to unsettle the listener. Every sonic gem is swallowed by something equally as enveloping: the hollow vocals of a woman bolstered by male, ghost-warped moans, sharply piercing synths that are sucked into echoes, and a driving, loose-snare beat that breaks through bloated, lingering reverb. Similar to Wedidit’s RL Grime and Shlohmo, Purple avoids trendy tactics and instead makes something that’s both engaging and harrowing to the very end.  Purple: "The Club" (via SoundCloud)
